Typically the cost of a cornhole board doesn’t change because you choose to add your own custom flair to the designs, it’s the art process and production of the set itself that adds the cost. A perfect example is Slick Woody’s Cornhole Company. A stock set of regulation size cornhole boards cost $250. When you decide to go custom, you are charged an additional $50. This is basically an art charge.

The boards are no different, but what happens is the art department has to turn your idea into a print-ready piece of digital art.

Included in this personalized experience is the ability to express your ideas, and then, in turn, make any revisions you need to the original piece of art. Let’s face it, very rarely can an artist portray exactly what you want with their first attempt.

Once you have approved the art, then the art files are transferred to the production department. There are definitely some differences here in regards to stock vs custom from a business standpoint.

When producing stock products, there is one design and it gets reproduced many times at once, let’s say 500 boards. From a business standpoint you can keep the cost of labor down by setting up a well oiled production line where everyone involved contributes to the process and many products get produced in a timely manner.

When it comes to custom cornhole boards, you are literally breaking the production line down to get one product out. If you have to produce 500 pieces that are the same or 500 pieces that are all unique, which do you think would be easier?

Because of this, it usually takes a bit longer to get your boards done after the approval process because the production crew must find time to break in from normal production to get your custom set out.

Are Custom Cornhole Boards Worth It?

Many people have asked me over the years, “Is it worth paying the extra money to get a custom set of cornhole boards?” And I always seem to give the politically correct answer… “It just depends.”

I know, boring right, but true. It just depends on your situation. If none of the following questions are an issue then I say definitely go custom:

Does the extra cost of $50 bother you?
Do you have time to go through the art approval process and longer production time?
Do you have time to speak with our graphic department to explain what you are looking for?

The great thing about stock designs is that you can order them and the turn around time is immediate.
